NZHTA Constitution proposed changes webinar

In September 2023 at the NZHTA Conference in Whanganui-a-Tara, the position statement was unveiled to NZHTA members. Our developing understanding strengthened NZHTA Exec’s commitment to this kaupapa - and led to a commitment in 2024 to redraft the NZHTA Constitution, to ensure all of our systems and processes were Te Tiriti Honouring. These proposed constitution changes represent the product of this revaluation and redrafting of this document.

The aim of this webinar is to familiarise NZHTA members with the proposed changes to our constitution and give you an opportunity to ask questions. Here is the document to view in advance with all proposed changes either highlighted or marked up for removal.

This webinar is scheduled for next week, Thursday 12th March. It will be on after school at 3.30pm and repeated in the evening at 7.30pm. These sessions will also be recorded and shared with all of you.

NEX Funding 2026-2028

After extensive discussion and consideration, the NZHTA Executive has now agreed to and signed the NEX offer for 2026-2028. There were initial concerns regarding the wording of the NEX contracts which required Associations to support 'the direction and intent of the updated learning area'. He Rau Ringa (The Joint Subject Associations of Aotearoa New Zealand) lobbied the Ministry of Education on our behalf to ensure that the independence of subject associations could be preserved. The updated contracts allow for greater autonomy and flexibility for us.

We would like to thank you all for your feedback and input on this decision. This secures vital funding for our association and guarantees financial operating stability over the next three years. On our current budget, we will continue with a Kaiārahi position for 2026 and for 2027 at this stage.
